QUALITY

At Picamon Fruits we are obsessed with the quality of the fruit, as it is a very important value that our customers demand. That is why we work shoulder to shoulder with our farmers to achieve the quality objectives set by the market.

Most of our farms have various quality certifications in which the effort and "good work" of the farmers are recognized. The certifications we hold are detailed belo

INTEGRATED PRODUCTION

Integrated production uses agricultural systems for obtaining vegetables that make the most of natural resources and production mechanisms and ensure a long-term sustainable agriculture, introducing biological and chemical control methods, and other techniques, the protection of the environment and agricultural productivity, as well as the operations carried out for the handling, packaging, transformation and labelling of plant products covered by the system.

It is about obtaining primary products by means of a reasoned agriculture, that uses methods respectful with the environment and that guarantees food security, and the profitability of the exploitations.

GLOBAL GAP

The certification GLOBALG.A.P. is based on the alimentary security that the final product must have with the controlled use of plant protection products to guarantee minimum residues in foods, humans and their surroundings. This certification ensures that producers meet health and security criteria in their citrus parcels, as well as an integrated handling of crops and plagues. Environmental Protection is ensured in relation with hygiene aspects that avoid chemical, physical and biological contamination, guaranteeing food safety.

In Picamon Fruits we promote this certification, so we work in the implementation of this quality standard in our partners' farms to guarantee a correct crop handling and to offer the final consumer an effective traceability.

ECOLOGICAL PRODUCTION

Organic farming is an agricultural production system that provides the consumer with fresh, tasty and authentic food while respecting the life cycle of natural systems.

Therefore, organic farming is based on a series of objectives and principles, which try to minimize human impact on the environment, while ensuring that the agricultural system functions in the most natural way possible:

  • Crop rotation as a prerequisite for efficient use of resources.
  • Very strict limits are set for the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, antibiotics for livestock, additives and adjuvants in food.
  • Prohibition of the use of genetically modified organisms.
  • Use of resources, such as manure for fertilization or feed for livestock produced on the farm itself.
  • Selection of disease resistant plant species, adapted to local conditions.

GRASP

Good agricultural practices not only apply to products but also to people, which is why it is important to evaluate these practices with a worldwide recognised quality standard.

GRASP is a module of the GLOBALG.A.P. that covers topics related to the safety, health and well-being of workers. That is why at Picamon Fruits we are committed to a quality agriculture, taking into account social aspects and protecting one of the most important resources of the farm: the staff.
